The white: Louisvale Wines Chardonnay 2021
The red: Tokara Wine Estate, Stellenbosch Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
I’m always in search of a fine Chardonnay. Louisvale’s is an excellent one, and a great way to break the afternoon heat before it’s cooled down enough for a glass of red. The wooded Chardonnay has strong notes of butterscotch when you breathe it in, and it is fully rounded and buttery on the palette.
The red tonight is the Tokara Cab Sav, which paired well with a duck breast, pan seared to tender the fat and finished off in the oven. I deglazed the pan with some fermented honey to make a jus, and poured it over the sliced duck.
I didn’t get a pic of dinner, it was too delicious, so here’s last night’s pic of the red with some cheese and home made beetroot crisps.
