This wine won the Vertex award at this year’s Veritas show for best wine overall, so of course I had to get a few bottles in and give it a taste. I Had to wait till so many open bottles were finished before I could get it to front of the queue and see for myself.
It greets you with strong aromas of dark fruit and new leather. On the palate, it’s silky smooth and is full of berries and dark fruit.
I’ve tasted more complex Cab Sav’s but this one is a pretty decent contender. I’m not sure I agree 100% with the best in show accolade – I have about 1000 wines to get through if I want to give a well researched and completely unbiased opinion. I’d hate to think what my doctor would say, but hey, I’m a wine blogger so it’s my duty to at least try.
This was enjoyed with a cheese platter and some home made beetroot crisps. Yumm.
