Bloemcool Maanskyn Steeb 2021 (2)

Fairview Wine and Cheese Bloemcool Maanskyn Steen 2021 (second time around)

Chilled in the waning heat of the day, this wine tasted almost corked until a few sips in. It’s quite amazing how the tastebuds can be teased and tricked. A little cheese and suddenly this wine came alive with lots of green apple and stone fruit.

Update (1 November):

It’s Tuesday again, and Tuesday is curry night and curry night means a stop at The Indian Chapter to collect my regular Chicken Madras and my frequent flyer miles. We’re getting real close, Indian Chapter and me, we’re almost on first name terms now.

Still looking for the perfect pairing so tonight’s curry was matched with the Fairview Wine and Cheese Bloemcool Maanskyn Steen 2021 – another winning combination. The intense flavour of the curry is tempered and almost sweetened by the cool complexity of the wine. It’s a full bodied Chenin Blanc with a helluva lot of character.

Again, no photos of curry in a plastic tub, it does it no justice. Still one of my best curries ever, and they make a damn good naan too.
