De Grendel Wine and Restaurant Op Die Berg Syrah 2019
Delicious. Smells like blowing dust off an old book on a charcuterie board packed with smoked meats. You get a bit of dustiness on the palette wrapped in a warm silky blanket of fruity spice. Reminds me why I love this estate’s wines so much.
The restaurant is noteworthy too. We went there in Feb this year to celebrate our anniversary. Well worth a visit and a wine tasting. The fact that the estate is less than 20 mins from my front door has no bearing on my bias for their wines.
Platters gives this one 96 points and 5 stars. No surprise, and well deserved.
