Fairview Bloemcool Tinto Fino 2018

Fairview’s Bloemcool Tinto Fino 2018 is another in the Bloemcool range and is a wonderful companion to the one I reviewed earlier. Also produced naturally like the other wines in this range. It comes wrapped in tissue paper with the Bloemcool “B” emblem, but if you have two reds from this range in your cellar, you’re going to have to peel back the wrapper to see what you’re about to open.

I love the aroma of this wine, like dipping your nose into a bag of dried apricots that leaves your nose honey coated in the inside, and it has a distinctly dusty taste which I love in a complex red wine.

Fairview’s notes on the wine: The grapes were picked early morning by hand … destemmed and lightly crushed…fermented in a small open top fermenter. Then aged in 225 L French and American oak barrels for 20 months. Only the best barrels (8 in total) were selected. This vintage was blended with one barrel of Swartland Shiraz. The wine was racked from the barrels, settled and bottled with a rough filtration, then allowed to age in bottle for a year.

Cellar price is about R500/bottle.

This is a mighty fine wine.
